POP by Stella McCartney

POP by Stella McCartney. Image of the day #21

A new concept for a new upcoming target group: POP by Stella McCartney is the scent for the new generation of Stella girls; independent but strengthened by their togetherness. It is an adventure, a spirit. It is about capturing the moment when you find yourself and come into your own. The story continues in the campaign film shot by Melina Matsoukas. Indie pop musician Grimes, Lola Leon (the daughter of Madonna), black rights activist and Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg and animal rights focused model Kenya Kinski-Jones trail blaze on a journey of discovery in the California dessert. POP by Stella McCartney is for a new group of girl power with a ‘let’s do this’ attitude, rooted in authenticity, friendship and individuality. Promoting self-acceptance and positive mutual support, the campaign offers a refreshing alternative to the occasionally divisive atmosphere of body shaming and the unfiltered opinion-sharing that currently exists on social media. According to McCartney, each one arrived on set with her own distinctive beauty signature, from Grimes’s Rainbow Brite dye job and Stenberg’s cloud of curls to Leon’s extended-tip French manicure …

Beauty Papers, a magazine on beauty with a brave new face.

I love magazines. Always have and always will. When I spot a new publication at specialized press shops, I always try to buy the first issue.I am big fan of print, or paper as we used to call it, but more and more I also like some strong digital publications. This one brand new one (first published last July 2nd 2015) is digital and in print and really worth checking out! Beauty Papers is a creative biannual magazine about the culture of beauty. But not a beauty magazines as you would expect one to be. It’s a beauty report with a vision against the relentless imagery of pseudo glamour masquerading as beauty. Reality has nothing to do with this kind of photoshopped beauty” and the founders of beauty papers want to free the industry from this cliché approach. Most media bring stories of conformity, brand and formula. Beauty Papers is different. They aim to liberate beauty from “the peddlers of false hopes, hierarchies, religions and pornographers with a message of subverted beauty for their own end” …

Aesop Love_a life inspiration story

I can be very short about this one. I love Aesop. I’m a huge fan, from the moment I had my first beauty product at hand. The smell, the graphics, the simplicity of the packaging. Pure love at first sight. Introduced to us two years ago on a London trendseminar (LS:N Global)and never been out of stock since. Not easy to find in Belgium though. So, my stock was found in Paris (merci concept store), in London (different stores) and in Belgium (Brussels Senteurs D’Ailleurs). So much about our love affair.       When walking in Shoreditch we visited a small Aesop store situated at the fashionably hip end of Redchurch Street. The tiny store is simple, clean, authentic and yet so chic.   Every Aesop shop is done differently. The shops vary in size, props, plants but always keep an apothecary feel, with natural finishings: wood, porcelain tiles, concrete, glass, metal. The Aesop Shoreditch location is kept sleek white with a very little wooden shelves.  The best skincare products with the best scent are …

One day Paris shopping-a life inspiration day

Some shopping in Paris? Always a good idea. The show of Ann Demeulemeester started at 11u30 am, and 20 minutes later we were ready to hit the town. It’s always difficult to choose which ‘quartier’ to visit, when you only have a few hours. It’s been a while since we went to Colette, so we started there. But we first passed by my all time favorite perfume shop of Comme Des Garcons. A small but exclusive selection and the most beautiful ‘degradé’ pink windows. I’m sure we know this store at least 15 years and it is still as pure and beautiful as then.
