Nr°14 Image(s) of the night

Oh yes, New Years Eve. The night we celebrate a new year to come, thank for the good in the past one, and looking forward for what’s to come.Celebrating it with the people you love is crucial, so we did. Not at a hyped party, not the place to be in our hip and happening hometown Ghent. No, in a cosy party place tuned photo studio of some best friends of ours, who prepared a true authentic, intimate party for about 30 like minded friends. Some knew each other, others not at all. It clicked, that was so magical. We celebrated with our kids too, we think it’s normal. We want them with us when we celebrate. It felt good. Food had the simplicity and the nostalgia of the real 70 ties classics, the music & dance an eclectic mix of styles, favorite tracks and evergreens. We started the year good.Something more hopeful? No SMS stress at midnight, not at all. For the first time, nearly nobody bothered to start sending text messages to people you were …

M, that’s mmmmm with a view

Pictures with very few light, no flash off course. It’s always nice to discover a brand new restaurant in your neighborhood, especially when you’re one of the first…. Ghent has been spoiled over the last year concerning exciting concept-and bistro resto’s (Vitrine, Jef, ..)pop up’s (Gaston),’chocolateries'(Yuzu),cocktail bars(Roomer) and handmade fast-food (Wim’s Balls and Glory). But you only know that something’s missing, when you know it exists. Well,  after visiting the ab fab restaurant-room-with-a-view-to-die-for ‘M’, we knew it straight away: this was definitely missing in Ghent. A cosmopolitan, penthouse-like venue with an amazing view on Ghent, it’s glorious towers, industry and history. The restaurant building itself is based in the middle of a kind of a ‘war zone’: the Tondelier site has a great ‘under-construction’ feel, and the fact that you know the place is part of a 10 year renovation plan, adds to the ‘you have to find it-fun‘. Turn in at de Gasmeterlaan, squeeze your car between the beton pillars at the entrance, and find yourself a parking spot around the building. You enter the restaurant with a 30 meters …

Photo Kate Stockman Sometimes you find a small shop, it can be anywhere, that you like immediately. Small but o so right curated, with so much love and knowledge, a shop where you wonder who is behind the selection and the vibe…. you got the picture? Well, I found one, in Ghent. I had no idea. First of all, I’m still somehow confused that the owner of the previous store that nested here for years, my friend Miet Crabbé, had to close her shop. I missed her here, so it was even more surprising that with this new shop straight away I got a click. Photo Kate Stockman Photo Kate Stockman A quick look at this “mix, not match, collect & find” collection? Here we go! Photo Kate Stockman The 2 friends behind the brand Bread and Boxers wanted simpler, better alternatives for everyday basics.  Being part of the everyday routine, getting great underwear, should be as simple as picking up the morning bread, they think. After all, the things we wear everyday matter more than …
