What we already know about Models Kitchen-a life inspiration day

Cesar Casier, for the ones who know him, is adorable. Always was. Nobody was surprised when he took on a succesful modeling career and moved to New York. His blog about his life and friends is really fun to read and is like his personality: fresh, open en no nonsense. http://thecesarsalad.blogspot.be/2012/06/cesars-modelkitchen.html It’s on this blog I first read about him writing a cook book. Another cook book, you might ask. Yep!

Wasbar launch party-an inspiration story day

The rumors, the gossip, the WOM did it’s job months before we even could see what the fuzz was all about! “Some guys in Ghent planed to make a new style ‘wasserette with bar’ and it was going to be the bom!“ With a buzz like that the expectations were VERY high, and when I heard that design agency Pinkeye was involved in the scenery it could’ get any better. Ruud, Luc and the others would certainly do a splendid job. I spotted the new venue to my client Eskimo (an authentic Ghent based night and underwear label-yeah,the one with the Eskimo and Pinguin logo) and they did join in as one of the early bird sponsors of Wasbar!

The Boxy brothers in Ghent-An inspiration story-day 110.4

Haute gastronomy in Ghent? More and more very talented chefs ( Sorry, I hate the empty and too often used word ‘TOP’ for every moron that lifts it’s head a bit above average level)  find their way to ‘my home town’ Ghent to try out a food experiment (Meat Balls and Glory) , a pop up restaurant (Gaston), or just to open their first innovative restaurant like J.E.F, Volta, Vitrine to name some. The ones that don’t like to stand in the kitchen all the time, they can drop by at the brand new Boxy Fine Foods store: a food catering concept with healthy, surprising take-away gastronomy.  Opened in avant-première at the Gentse Feesten for a quick nibble, but officially open since begin of August. And, the lucky ones that all ready tasted the fabulous style and finesse of Stefan en Kristof Boxy, know this is high class. In the 80/90 ties, the Boxy brothers had a Michellin star restaurant in the Maurice Liebaertlaan in Kortrijk, and this happened to be the exact street where I once started …

Gaston on the rooftop-An inspiration story-day day 109.2

Another ‘place-so-hip-it-hurts’ in my home town Ghent. Gaston opens for the second time it’s doors on the rooftop of the Galveston factory (Wiedauwkaai 52), where also ArtCube and a paintball are located. Idea by Eric de Wagenaere of restaurant Coeur d’Artichaut (Onderbergen) and le Petit Coeur.  Pay extra attention for the XL bar decorated with more than 10.000 bottle caps. The food? Classics like scrimp cocktail,  “kalfswangetjes” with Liefmans Goudenband beer and “gebakken paling”. But Gaston has also the famous glory balls of Wim Ballieu on the menu. This temporary restaurant opened the 4th of July and closes the 29 th of August.  Reservations at http://www.gaston-gent.be/ Open Tuesday till Friday : kitchen from 12 u. till 14 u. 30 and 18 u. 30 till 22 u. 30 – Saturdays and Sundays only from 18 u. 30 till 22 u. 30.  Half December Gaston will be back with its winter edition.  Pictures: Kate Stockman on I-Pad with Instagram. Bombay Gin is omni present. As a drink but even more as a ‘blue-je-veux- decoration. It works. Rooftop terrace with a view …
