Flemish Food Fest ” Food Rock Stars”-a life inspiration story

©Photo Kate Stockman Ton loads of press and about 2000 foodies welcomed the ‘all star’ chef parade at Flemish Food Fest in Ghent. 23 af fab chefs gathered for the exclusive Gelinaz event, hosted by the Flemish Foodies. Gelinaz is an international collaboration project, founded by The Italian culinary journalist Andrea Petrini, who brought together a group of innovative top-of-the-top chefs. They organize exclusive events, let’s call it more food performances, that strive for the exchange of culinary knowledge and out-of-the-ordinary ideas across the world. At the FFF in Ghent last weekend they all joined together for a fun and non formal lunch while the entire food press and fans where looking in their plates. Dishes cooked and served by the young talented Flemish chefs behind the BBQ’s of FFF, not afraid to let their ‘idols’ taste their creations. Enjoy the photo story of this lunch-press-conference where also the Maire of Ghent Daniel Termont and Minister Geert Bourgois were present. ©Photo Kate Stockman ©Photo Kate Stockman ©Photo Kate Stockman ©Photo Kate Stockman ©Photo Kate Stockman ©Photo …

20 Friend-chefs at Flemish Food Fest-a life inspiration story

My previous post was about the Flemish Food Fest vibe, but, hey,  wasn’t this festival supposed to be a gastronomic rock show in the first place? ©Photo Ivan Missinne Let’s introduce the golden idea by The three Flemish Nudiez*: Invite 20 young, talented friend-chefs to co-host your own food fest party and let them (and not you) BBQ for a few hundred guests… “Il faut le faire’!(*they prefer this nickname before the more media-used ‘Flemish Foodies’…So it was used on the red entance wristband :-)) ©Photo Kate Stockman A lecture by Danny Hueghebaert and Filip Claeys from the North Sea Chefs, façon Flemish Nudies. Flemish Food Fest 2013-a life inspiration story

A Flemish Food Fest! It sounded really promising! The idea was to host a food festival: f*cking good food + f*cking great music in that order. And, to be honest, it absolutely over classed my expectations.Fun, open, no nonsense, a vibrant location, a laid-back but dedicated organization, tasty unconventional food, good looking star chefs and loads of gastronomic energy. I’ve visited the gig, baptized as ‘Flemish Food Fest’ by 3 young, very talented Flemish chefs : Olly Ceulenaere, Jason Blanckaert en Kobe Desramaults, last Sunday morning as a guest of Kobe’s sister Eef and his sister in law Angelique (VERY grateful, ladies!!) For me it was a celebration of good, natural food. Or let’s call it a nonchalant, very addictive cocktail of honest Rock n’ Roll attitude by 3 golden boys. Olly, Jason and Kobe strolled around the entire day on their own harbor garden fest and had the time of their life, not in the least impressed by all the attention on their behalf. And attention, they got plenty. The entire Belgian, and international food media was present for this event (and off course for …

an extraordinary sleep-a life inspiration day

Sometimes you arrive and sleep at a place that is so special, that once in a while you think about that night.Tazu Rous’ Hotel Gent was definitely one to remember. I realise I never posted our pictures and story on this art work made for Track. (12.05.2012 – 16.09.2012)This outdoor exhibition in the city of Ghent took place last summer and one of the highlights was a container room build around the railway station clock. 23 meters high, only 109 nights and no surprise: after 23 minutes all nights fully booked.Tazu Rous’ Hotel Ghent was in an extraordinary location. It closed it’s door and stairs in September 2012 and to be honest, when I drive by the railway station I always look up to check if it’s still there. It’s gone.So enjoy this sneak peek of our night and try to book in Tazu’s next art project. Ivan packed for a night on 23 meters high. With me. Door two, to reach the stairs. Stairway to heaven Impressive construction, and we were glad, once we arrived on the top floor. …
