The Squid Stories image of the day #12.

Sometimes an idea can be really simple. Just right, and than it’s a question of ‘just do it’ and bring it on the market. That’s what two Italian artists did when asked to think about a new ‘cooking ritual’ idea. They called their project “I Tradizionali” and I discovered it recently surfing. A perfect item to be one of the ‘images of the day’. I Tradizionali are illustrated tattoo-recipes which can be applied on one’s forearm. Not only does the tattoo emphasize the common gesture of “rolling-up one’s sleeves” before cooking, but it also helps the cook to remember the order in which the recipe is to be prepared. The collection is divided into different thematic packages. Each of them includes 4 recipes which provide a list of the ingredients and the amount of each ingredient needed for the recipe.

When I read this article on the future oriented technology blog ‚Serious Wonders’, this image brought me back in time, weird enough. You have to know that my dad was an orthopedic technician, and we were brought up with all kind of prosthetics that he made for his patients. I remember him explaining us how he hoped in the far future to be able to have the technology to make real robotic prosthetics, to be controlled by the mind, like a real arm or leg does. We were impressed by only the thought of it but could not imagine that this would be possible ever.

What time better than the start of a new year to share with you the ‘colours’ that made it to the hitless of two word players in the field of color. Pantone presented the colour Marsala (pantone 18-1438), a naturally robust, dramatic, luxurious warm and earthy wine red that enriches our mind, body and soul (in these hard and cold times we live in) as thé colour of 2015. Marsala got it’s name from the fortified, tasteful and rich wine grounded in red-brown roots with a sophisticated, natural earthiness. Marsala combines perfectly with grey tones, sunny gold shades and taupe but also surprisingly well with today’s still very popular pastel shades.

Mama takes care of you.

As we were in Paris 3 weeks ago for a Palais de Tokyo exhibit (more about this later on this blog), we stayed a night at Mama’s. It was not our first visit to Mama Shelter , and certainly not the last. I always call it ‘a style youth hostel for adults’. Everything breaths fun, joy-de-vivre, love and care. Play is here a must, and the vibe is vibrant, colorful and although you recognize some of the most comic furniture of Starck, it’s not his usual cosmopolitan chic style.
