Tried & enjoyed: Turn East when hungry.

A few weeks ago, I was in London to film a trend movie for a client. I did my interview at the vibrant coffee brewery and bar Allpress in Shoreditch because I love their slow coffee, the laid-back crowd and the once tried organic avocado/egg/toast breakfast. ( see previous blog post about Allpress   ).

After work, before heading to St. Pancras station I walked by a place called Pizza East. To be honest, when in London, I don’t particularly look for pizza places to dine…But, this one was recommend by our food photographer Luk, who knows about good food and has an eye for nice designed places.

We walked in before opening hour and we popped into the chefs, all having their work lunch together, before the hungry bunch was called in. They let us wander around in the still closed restaurant, the bar and in the in-house deli (for Italian cured meats, special cheeses, coffee and biscotti). The place had a ‚morning’ quiet feel (before the afternoon rush), is very spacious and surprisingly warm and cosy.

So to hear, this Shoreditch place is hipster heaven and I must say, it gets great reviews on Tripadvisor and other sharing platforms.

Pizza East is located on the ground floor of the Tea Building, at the corner of Shoreditch High Street and Bethnal Green Road, opened in October 2009 and was one of the first bastions of Shoreditch gentrification.

No need to hope for peace and quiet (as we experienced that morning), Pizza East has always long queuing lines, a loud evening crowd, lots of wooden and metal family tables but also special topped wood oven pizzas, fresh antipasti and daily-changing surprises. Perfect when you dine with a large group of friends and have lots to debate about.

Check it out for yourself. I personaly loved the place for the nice light, the kind, welcoming staff and the very promising smell that came out of the open kitchens.
