Milano 13: Moooi _a life inspiration story

Milano, our annual design quest was inspirational this year. We try to stay away from the crowded fair itself, although I miss the satellite young designers corner. In the following posts I’ll give you my personal Salone favorites, and the things that hit my mind. To be honest, the one exhibition that stayed top of mind after three days (and kept us for two hours hypnotized) was  Marcel Wanders’show for Moooi, celebrating their life long collaboration with Dutch photographer Erwin Olaf. I must admit, I’m all ready a big fan of Olaf, who’s work is always controversial, über clean and off a breathtaking perfection. Erwin Olaf is the house-photographer of Moooi, but what they present here is not the usual ‘model-Moooi object in a fun, stylish combination’. NO. This time Moooi rented the biggest space in Zona Tortona and filled it with the most modern feel ‘living room stories’ in perfect harmony with Olafs work.

Nr°22 Image of the day

Tom Ford, always a man of style and very good taste (ever seen the fabulous movie ‘A single man‘?) made with this article an intriguing point.  I love it. Ford says he’s tired of the cult of youth. As the art director for a jewelry shoot he “imagined a man and a woman who had been together for a long time, faithful to each other and always incandescent with desire.” This image as a smashing and let’s be honest, very sexy result. “I am tired of the cult of youth. The cultural rejection of old age, the stigmatization of wrinkles, grey hair, of bodies furrowed by the years. I am fascinated by Diana Vreeland, Georgia O’Keeffe and Louise Bourgeois, women who have let time embrace them without ever cheating. Society today condemns this, me, I celebrate it. For this session of fine jewelry, I imagined a man and a woman who had been together for a long time, faithful to each other and always incandescent with desire.”– Tom Ford

Food of the week-a life inspiration series

No, it has nothing to do with some late New Years good intentions, but I really want to eat healthier, more conscious and taste all different ingredients. Take time to enjoy preparing, time to enjoy taste. As we did before time was not short. It still is, but hey, we’ll make time. So, this will be a small diary about what was on my different dishes last week, home made, restaurant food, diners at friends. Not weekly but as this blog is always: when I feel like it.Bon appetit. Wrong start! Minor trendwatching exams. 14 students in one day. No time to eat but this croissant and a Cécemel. Bummer. Better! Wok mushroom, spring onions and garlic. Yes! Ready: lukewarm mushrooms on rucola salad, balsamico truffle and some parmesan flakes.  Lovely scallops with Iberico ham at http://www.de-baronie.be/node/83Lunch with my mum. Green tea and a sweet heart for Valentines day at my hairdresser Cut, Paste and Paint.
