For those who missed Chloë in Paris – a life inspiration day

Chloé Attitudes.  The very first exhibition dedicated to Chloé, hosted at my absolute favorite museum in Paris, Palais de Tokyo.  I was in Paris with some (best) friends and after a quite intens shopping inspiration marathon, we needed our shot of culture. Yes, there was Chanel’s Little Black Jacket exhibit (http://thelittleblackjacket.chanel.com/en_GB/home) but we went for a more surprising hidden pearl, we hoped.  And, I must admit, Chloë was not quite on my shortlist of most loved designers ( McQueen is, Ann Demeulemeester, Balmain, Givenchy and Haider Ackerman are too), but as I always look for new stories, this promised to be one. This celebration of the Chloë Maison’s 60-year(!) contribution to fashion culture was more than a new story. For me it was a travel into time, a plunge back into fashion memory lane and a true revelation. The Chloé spirit found it’s home in a great new space at ‘the palais’ and was curated and designed by renowned exhibition-maker Judith Clark Since 1952, Chloë’s legacy of luxury prêt-à-porter clothing is one of radical choices, informal but very …

Merci, Merci!-a life inspiration day

Merci. What a great, surprising store! Not that spectacular when you walk on by the Paris Boulevard Beaumarchais, but once you entered the open court yard, you discover a world of particular original design, well curated fashion and thé absolute hip and happening brands in beauty and jewelry. Another concept store, yes but not as you know it….

Martin à Paris-an inspiration story day

I’m talking about Maison Martin Margiela and HM off course. Oh yes, we are VERY happy with this collaboration and very excited about the first leaks spotted on the net… I heard from insiders that the design team wandered trough the amazing archives of 20 y MMM, and this means original pieces now back in collection… In a way maybe not that fun for real “collectioneurs” and first hour fans, but I think, an original MMM piece keeps it value for ever, and nothing can change that, not even a cheaper (also limited) version. Take a first look at these lovely pieces of the capsule collection, photographed by Sam Taylor Wood, and for the woman’s shoot Belgian model Amelie Lens. We are going to hit the store in Paris, with 3 friends after a short night in  Hotel Amour on Wednesday. Can’t wait!!   Rendez vous, November 15 th, at HM. Report on the Paris hunt November 16th!

Golden oil-An inspiration story-day 111.3

It was a few weeks ago, when we had a lovely diner at Peter & Suzy’s place. You know, the guys from design heaven ‘DESIGN BLABLA’. When we asked for the secrets behind Suzy’s mouth watering dessert, they popped this olive/almond oil on the table. This oil, made since 1878 somewhere in the south of France, was flavored with almonds and prunes. The taste was so powerful, so delicate, so we took a spoon and tasted it pure. Great pure taste, sun ripped and velvety soft. The secret of this Le Blanc L’Huillerie? Artisanal nut oils, pressed at a stone mill in Burgundy.  Later that evening we tasted lustrous gold, bronze and copper tones of grilled groundnut, almond, hazelnut, walnut, pine kernel and sesame oil, or the cool green of olive, pistachio and rapeseed oil… Next trip to France, we make a detour for some ‘shopping de l’huile’. http://www.huile-leblanc.com/ For the ones that don’t want to wait till their next vacation, can visit the shop in Paris. 6, rue Jacob, 75006, Paris
