They always say that when you experience from close by a traumatic event, you care more about what happens to others. Well, the fact that the very down-to-earth Stella McCartney supports this month’s breast cancer awareness mouvement, is a living proof of this. Stella lost her mother Linda McCartney due to this terrible disease.
I must admit it, I’ve always liked Carine. Oui, La Roitfeld as she probably was called in Paris when she worked there as Vogue’s fashion editor. But I spotted her long before that. As a young stylist for Elle, and later in partnership with the young Mario Testino. A match made in heaven and when a third star in the making, Mister Tom Ford himself, joined the hip entourage they could go wild. So they did. Ford and Roitfeld invented the wave in fashion photography called ‘Porn chic’ (Carine likes the label ‘Erotica Chic’ better) and Ford’s collections for Gucci were the perfect playground for their experiments. Miss Menkes, front row, and front roll. Impressive: the queen of fashion journalists ‘authentic style‘ is in real live as strict and professional as expected.
