No noise please Part 2-a life inspiration day

This really caught my attention: a fashionstore that installs a ‘no noise’ concept. In this ultra busy world, it seems I’m not alone with my wish for some ‘no noise’ when I work, write, think, enjoy.
Not always, I do love music and I adore crowded Paris or NY. But nothing, nothing at all can be so liberating, nearly a meditation.
So, this is my story on Selfridges. Go check it out in London! From 7 January to end of February, Selfridges introduces the new store-wide concept, No Noise. In an initiative that goes beyond retail, the project invites you to celebrate the power of quiet, see the beauty in function and find calm among the crowds.
When Selfridges first opened their doors in 1909, Harry Gordon Selfridge created a Silence Room where busy shoppers could “retire from the whirl of bargains and the build up of energy”. The team behind Selfridges thought we need it now more than ever, so they are bringing it back as part of their No Noise initiative.

Designed by Alex Cochrane Architects, this reincarnation of the Silence Room has an insulated inner-sanctum, shielded from the noise and human traffic of the store.

But there’s more! Much more!!
Here’s how you can experience the tranquility of No Noise at Selfridges:
Check out the Quiet shop! No brands, no shouting. What does that give?
Selfridges pays also homage to minimalist design with a carefully curated edit of fashion, accessories and beauty products. Plus, some of the world’s most recognisable brands have taken the symbolic step of removing their logos in our collection of de-branded products – including Beats by Dre, Levi’s, Marmite and Crème de la Mer – each creating exclusive collector’s items.

Selfridges partnered up with Headspace, the modern meditation experts, to deliver an extra helping of peace and quiet with your shopping. Look out for the Headspace pods throughout the store – each one offers a different guided meditation, to help calm busy heads

A small movie on the concept, explains how it works!
