Image of the day: Forest of light by Cos
This one is not a new image. I took it in April 2016 during Milan’s Salone di Mobile but never got the time to post it nor write a post about it. So I do now.
It’s always great to visit some ‘off piste’ venues, away from the hectic design spots. Every year more and more fashion brands join the design craziness to present their vision on the matter
For the latest edition of Il Salone di Mobile, Swedish brand COS teamed up with Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto for the installation Forest of Light inside the Cinema Arti in Milan’s San Babila district. Cone-shaped beams pierced through a radical black room, fading on and off in response to movement. Specially-composed sounds, subtle fog and mirrored walls created an immersive, infinite landscape where the conical spotlights became abstracted trees in a shifting forest of light.
Fujimoto took inspiration from the COS’ SS16 collection exploring ideas of interaction and perspective. He explaned the installation “connected fashion, space and forest as a form of architecture.”
Later!
