Xpogo jumps around NY-a life inspiration story

Oh, I remember the pogo stick! When we were kids this was our next big thing. Great jumping around on the street, and quite cool when you used to ride the street with rollerblades. The pogo sticks made a horrible peeping sound when water made the stick rusty inside, and the springs didn’t work that well anymore. Sweet memories. So this the next thing which long boarders, bikers and “traceurs” have to share the streets with? I have to admit it, this looks so much fun. Let’s check this out in the big apple. Soon.

New York impressions-a life inspiration day

Today we all followed what happened in New York, as Sandy hit the coastline this morning. Weird how these kind of disasters keep me fascinated and drawn to the screens. Forces of nature in an enormous clash with human build stuff. This is a selection of pictures that caught my eye today. The horror and beauty of nature in all it’s destroying power. © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP © AFP

Oh, smokey eyes Carine! An inspiration-story day.

I must admit it, I’ve always liked Carine.  Oui, La Roitfeld as she probably was called in Paris when she worked there as Vogue’s fashion editor.  But I spotted her long before that. As a young stylist for Elle, and later in partnership with the young Mario Testino. A match made in heaven and when a third star in the making, Mister Tom Ford himself, joined the hip entourage they could go wild. So they did. Ford and Roitfeld invented the wave in fashion photography called ‘Porn chic’ (Carine likes the label ‘Erotica Chic’ better) and Ford’s collections for Gucci were the perfect playground for their experiments. Remember model Carmen Kass pulling down her knickers and showing off body hair shaved into the letter ‘G’. Carine’s idea.  Wanna know more? Check Carine Roitfeld‘s book, Irreverent!  Published by Rizzoli. This fabulous 368-page tome looks back at the fashion stylist/editor/muse and her 30-year career.  I pre-ordered it more than a year ago if you want to know 🙂            But I wanted to sign you in on La Roitfeld’s make …
