Koen Vanmechelen celebrates biocultural diversity.

For years I love Koen Vanmechelen’s work. The first time I walked into one of his projects was at The Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke. This private open air museum was at that time the home and breeding place of his Cosmopolitan Chicken Project where Koen Vanmechelen launched his chicken crossbreeding project during the late nineties. The Cosmopolitan Chicken Project, you may ask? Well, more specifically, Koen interbreeded domestic chickens from different countries aiming at the creation of a true cosmopolitan chicken as a symbol for global diversity.

No blabla, but great design at Domus Plus Designblabla-a life inspiration day

Same day (November 9th), entire different venue and vibe! Right after the Big Air snowboard event, we hurried of from Antwerp to Roeselare (of all places!) to participate at 25 years Domus Plus. Peter and Suzy, owners and visionairs behind this always surprising designwalhalla were once very much known for their legendary “theme-parc-like” parties ( I remember for instance, long before the mad cow decease, a exclusive white virus party where all guests were ‘desinfected’ and filmed during this process before entering the venue)

Closing day of Damien Hirst London-a life inspiration day

London. Saturday 8th of October 2012. The last days of the substantial Damien Hirst exhibition we absolutely didn’t want to miss. We waited too long, and before you know, it is closing weekend…. So we booked some (too expensive) Eurostar tickets, and headed for the UK. As for Iman it was his first time in London, he was totally excited, even we only stayed the day.
