Opening this weekend at MOMA is a major monographic museum exhibition of works by Bruce Conner. 'It's All True' surveys the late artist's 50-year career with over 250 objects from film to painting to performance. One of the foremost American artists of the postwar era, Conner touched on various themes of American society following WWII, from the rising consumer culture to the dread of nuclear apocalypse. It’s because of this legendary picture that Conner made it to “Image of the day”. The film still from CROSSROADS (1976) comes from a daring film in which Conner epitomizes the horror and fascination with nuclear bombs, as well as with the capacity of art and cinema to create a powerful record of death and destruction on an unimaginable scale.
