Hubert Duprat, insects build gold flake and pearl cocoons.

It can’t be denied that insects, though not a popular topic of conversation in most cases, are becoming increasingly more popular in various aspects of our (not so) daily life. Although usually brought up in conversations as a new source of protein, Hubert Duprat saw a more aesthetic purpose for this crawly creatures. I first got in contact with Duprats work at the exposition of international fashion designer Dries Van Noten at the MOMU in Antwerp. Dries shows all his art, fashion, music and other inspirations in relation with his collections and Duprat was one of them. I was really intrigued and started some research on this artist’s work.

Dries Van Noten_Inspiration walk in his creative master mind.

After a great first edition in Paris in 2014, the exhibition of one of Belgium’s most creative, loved by all ànd successful fashion designers has ‘landed’ in Antwerp. The Momu (Antwerp’s own fashion museum) invited Dries Van Noten to set up a second edition of his inspiration show and as we all know, a home run in your home town is always most rewarding. The nice thing is that the exhibition is not a copy of Paris, but a next step. With new insights, exciting inspiration work from Dries his heroes and influencers, a beautiful setting and a core selection of all Dries’ 25 collections over the years. I had the privilege to walk trough the exhibit with a collaborator of the Momu who worked with Dries personally on this show. She knew how the process evolved and how Dries was intensively creative engaged.

Inside INSIDE, part one.

You all know by now my love for the ‚unbeatable’ museum of Modern Art in Paris Palais De Tokyo. Every time we visit, it grabs me be surprise, it moves me, it turns certainties upside-down. This exhibition, opened October 20 th, is _again _nothing less than fantastic. 30 artists, gathered together by curators Jean de Loisy, Daria de Beauvais, Katell Jaffrès around one mutual theme, all experimenting and stretching the given boundary ‚INSIDE’ it’s own expression and interpretation. Let me take you inside, so you block some time in your agenda to check this one out, before it is too late.
